I like the way the subject appears isolated from the rest of the people in the picture. The person in the foreground has a tired, perhaps sad, pensive expression and one wonders what personal story, what moment in his life, this expression reveals. Behind her, time seems to follow a different rhythm, dynamic, playful, over the top. This contrast is very significant, that is, it fills the photo with meaning.
And then the light, the depth of field, the focus are perfect.
There is something cinematic about it. I really like it, Chris, it's a photo to be printed in a book or displayed in an exhibition.
Do you know the subject portrayed or was it a fortuitous encounter?

I’m sure that was the most interesting face in the crowd. What are the thoughts behind those eyes, I wonder?
On the first point, Rob, you might be spot on. As for the second, wondering about it sparks off a whole host of stories in one's mind.

Thank you for your generous and thoughtful words, Luca. The subject was not known to me. I was there with a group of friends, all fellow photographers, two of whom are on the left of the scene there.
