I am beginning to think that everyone on this forum lives in Scotland or elsewhere in Europe and that as the American I seem to be odd man out.

For the record solar is only one option with this great little emergency battery backups you may also charge them via any USB charger but I keep one on the dash or my car here then when out on a long day of shooting away from the convenience of a hard wired electrical supply I am able to charge my phone and tablet from it

there are a few based in the US , Brian, Chris, Beth, Steve and Glenn off the top of my head. It's sometimes frustrating not getting instant feedback to to time zones etc

We have similar in the UK although I heaven't seen any that look as well made as these. I've not really thought about the solar chargers as I am not sure how useful they will be in winter here. Now if they invented a rain powered charger that would be something!

They do not rely solely on solar for power, you can also charge the storage battery via USB and then take the unit with you as a backup for when you are away from the power grid
