Critique Welcomed Some Call Them Drinking Fountains...

They are called bubblers in Milwaukee also. But not in Chicago where they are called "drinking fountains."

In the US Navy they're called scuttlebutts.

Btw, interesting look at the bubbler all covered with snow.

But those in Milwaukee don't pronounce it right.
I spent 38 years with the Navy...and took great pleasure it trying to correct that Ralph. And for a little information...old sailing ships conventionally stored potable water in a scuttled butt: a butt (cask) which had been scuttled by making a hole in it. There is actually a real...real...old one on the USS Constitution down the street.

Interesting way to present a shave ice there in Boston, Glenn. ;)

By the way, thanks for the etimological background on "scuttlebutt." When Ralph mentioned it my fist thought was why would they call it that? Very interesting.

Chilly stuff Glenn - I like the texture of the ice you've captured in the snow around the drinking fountain
