Some from my Yash-Mat

Here are a few from (one of) my Yashica-Mat(s) which was my first foray into the world of medium format film cameras.

The B&W I developed with Rodinal and the colour ones were kindly done by Stephen with his Jobo.

All comments welcome.

Oh, Heather, these are great, Pete will love the square format! I've just bought a medium format camera recently (see HERE and HERE) and am delighted you are uploading your shots with the old Yash-Mat. The first shot is superb - the tones especially, and so clear.

Great first contributions here :)

As already said Heather nicely composed, That old Yashica mat ( one of many :) )does produce some nice sharp images and I think that being fully manual it has helped your photography as you have to think about each image. and looking at your Steyning trough image which if I remember correctly was shot in Velvia, you have got the exposure spot on which is not always the easiest thing to do with slide film..

I like them all..

Appreciate all the comments people, thank you.

The developing has not been without trauma!

Especially attempting to get the film onto the spirals! I think my worst effort was nearly an hour!

Stephen wanted to know if an elephant had found its way in and trampled on the negs! :D

I hope you are not suggesting that I thought it was only the one elephant.

I think my big problem is that I don't have a darkroom! I used a changing bag first but have now bought a changing tent which is hugely better.(but I am still pants at getting them on the spirals!)

.......actually I don't think a darkroom would help as in Stephen's darkroom I managed to drop the first whole unrolled film onto the floor, retrieved it and eventually got it onto the spiral and then after about 20 mins of struggling with the second one I gave up and had to let Stephen do it, which entailed the two of us changing places in the pitch dark and then finding all the gear again!

.....Oh, and don't even go there with 36 exp. 35mm

How about practicing with some spare film and your eyes shut. That's what I always make people do when I am 'teaching' them.

A good idea for anyone that struggles, I know when I first started I used to sit watching TV putting film on and off the spool untill it became second nature...Note to Heather with the 35mm.. make sure the spirals are dry and warm them up first, the film almost go's on by itself ;)
