Some Jazz, Some Portra, and a Contax

The Musical Instrument Museum here in Phoenix is a wonderful place, and I go there often for concerts as they have a wide variety of artist from around the world that perform. The venue is very nice, and small.

I figured film would be an appropriate medium for Jazz. I was eyeballing the Ilford 3200 B&W in the film fridge - but I decided to load some Portra 800 into the Contaxt RX and mounted up my fastest lens (Contax Zeiss 50mm 1.4.) In all the decades I have been shooting film - I had never tried to at a concert. I didn't expect great results as I knew the lighting wouldn't be the best. Most shots were 30th of a second or so but I did get some good keepers.

Also, if you ever see the Preservation Hall Jazz Band performing in your city - go see them. I am not a huge fan of Jazz, but they were awesome.
