Nikon D700 with Nikon 70-300mm VR - shutter speeds typically 1/125 to 1/160 for panning shots.

Do you make use of the "normal" vr?

There's something about panning that I really enjoy. Although I don't own any weapons it has the feeling of loading a gun (making settings) and then following your prey.

Nicely done Dave. My favourite is the first one. The vein in his neck gives it that extra oomph of adrenaline.

That's even more impressive! I can't do it without VR...
The normal setting, as I understand it is there to aid panning and it certainly worked for me when I have tried it...
