Some night photos of streets of London

Jim Kuo

The man in the hat
I had the intention to take some photos of Chrismas lights on the streets of London when we headed out tonight. Unfortunately, none of the Chrismas light photos worked out, luckily there are a few non light related photos that I do like, so it wasn't a total wasted trip after all ;)

#1, he is not amused :D

#2, 3 and 5, I used Hamish's high contrast preset with some individual adjustment afterwards. Thanks Hamish :).

Thanks for viewing.

Jim

#1 and #2 - fabulous

Love the intimate feel of #1, and that eye contact just makes it - exposing for the lighting in the booth has really isolated it from the outside world - fantastic.

#2 I think it's the rain, and the halo around the bright lights that really give this shot a great atmosphere - then you notice the special plate on the Audi :D :D :D

Thanks Chris, I agree about the eye contact in #1, it totally made the picture :).

My eyes were drawn to the bright siren of the police car in #2, I completely missed the brilliant number plate on the side :D.

wow nice set, BW really works here for me, busy night is my favourite, really great shot. As for the eye contact shot BRILLIANT

Great stuff yet again Jim, Ab Fab!!!
Number 4 with the Gals on the fountain is pretty funny.....were they drunk?? :D:D:D

Hehe, those were just some teenage girls having a fun conversation, presumably waiting for their parents in the nearby restaurant.

The nice sharp image of #2 with the added halo from the rain and wet streets make this one heck of a shot. Nice work!

Great shots as usual matey!
Good to see the preset is getting some use as a starting point for people!
There's so much to photograph in London eh?
I was talking to a mate who lives in london today about these photos and how you often come up with somthing pretty impressive... Im a little envious of all the stuff you have on your doorstep ... But I don't know how you cope long term ... I'd go mad living in such a big city I think!

Thanks Ralph, Hamish for the positive feedbacks.

I love living in London, I think all the chaos and the excitments suit me just fine. I can't imagine how I would cope if one day I had to move away from this city :).

Liking #4 Jim with the three girls dancing on the wall the one reflecting the shape of the tree, then there is the girl in the window above, The BW treatment suits all these and others you have done, as Hamish says you have such a variety of scenes available to you and I think you do them justice every time. :)

Thanks Kev for your kind words :).

"Every time" would be an exaggeration, consider the number of frames I discarded ;). I do strive to get at least one keeper in every trip, as much as I can though.

Well we all do that, I have a 10% rule if you take 100, so 90 will be lost somewhere on the HD 9 will be worth a second look but only 1 will be the keeper and poster :D but guess that the beauty of Digital do that with film and you soon end up broke :D

You and I are polar opposites;).

I've mentioned on a thread by Darren that I have nothing but admiration for any one that takes photographs in big cities and some of your shots show what great opportunities there are to be had. But unfortunately I could never get the urge to give it a go as big cities just totally depress me:(.

The title on the book ($h!t London) looks about right to me, but you could replace London for Leeds, Liverpool Glasgow or any other big city:D:D.

Haha, thanks Glen. I thought the title of that book could be quite fitting to the feelings some may have toward this city on occasion, that's why I included it in this set.

Luckily, my experience has been hugely positive so far ;).

Nice moody shots...I especially like #2...the post-rain street scene. All the tiny reflections off the droplets add depth and texture. Cool stuff.
