Two tango dancers,
passionately moving,
on a street in Buenos Aires,
and the crowd is in wonderment.

Canon 4mp point & shoot, 09/06

They love there tango down there don't they Nihat? You caught this tango twosome just right I think; just enough blur to speak to the movement, yet still enough to see the drama in their body language--especially the bloke. Very nice, Nihat.

Very nicely done Nihat. As Brian says, just the right amount of movement. I'm very keen on the photography of dance, especially ballroom / tango - I love the intensity. I started a series of shots when we were still dancing but we lapsed due to lack of time and so the opportunities evaporated as well. One day I revisit it again though (and hopefully we shall start up the dancing again). Just need some time!

Thank you very much, Rob. Yes, not my usual. I am not comfortable with (street) candids as I feel that I am in violation of privacy, unless it's a presentation of an art form, be it music or dance performance, or a craftsperson working with his/her hands. I feel and do much better when there is an agreement and knowing the person I photograph. That approach has more potential of actually photographing the essence, the soul of the person.

Thank you very much, Pete. This was at a time of linear movement, and this shutter speed work fine it. It's mesmerizing to watch tango or ballroom dancers. Hope you find the time to dance and/or photograph who do.

Another subject is a dance-like discipline of Aikido which I practiced in the '90s. Photographing them in their more circular movements is something I'd like to re-visit. I'd give even slower shutter speed in B+W that would show more like Japanese brush strokes. It a matter of time, focus. How many hours do we weekly invest in the web that did not exist until our recent past? :)
