Red Arrows shot is upside down ;)

Very nice set Darren - looking very sharp - how was the AF in tracking the targets?

Also - How did you cope with the lighting - did you have to use exposure compensation?

The shots with some space for the planes to fly into work best I think - better comp for a moving subject.

Love the Lanc / Hurricane shot - nice sky as well

Chris

AF was awesome just locked on and stayed that way......can honestly say i didn't get any blurred shots. lightning fast also with the 7D & Canon 100-400mm IS L

Shutter Priority, ISO 400, played around with exposure compensator, mainly a few stops under. 1/1250 or their about, panned with the planes and fired at 8FPS then basically hoped for the best......haha

Most of the ruined shots were my fault for not panning to keep up with the planes......i missed noses & tails off haha

Shot In Raw so can help things at the computer also :)

I Have Uploaded Around 100 to My Facebook Page........if anyone wishes to take a look click here

The best has to be the p51, nice motion blur to the props and a nice profile (not as nice as the Spit of course!). BoB flight looks a little oversharpend and lacks a little prop blur or that would have made a nice shot. Looks like you've picked up a few dust spots too!

Vic

I always struggle with the prop blur - wanting a high enough shutter speed to capture the moving target tends to negate the prop blur :(

Lots of slow shutter panning practice required I expect - anyone know at what speed props blur?

I have been told (on an aircraft forum) that best shutter speed is 125th sec or their about for prop blur

This one of mine was at 125th second,There is a slight blur on first plane on the prop, the second one seems to be more blurred
taken in Manual mode
(this was at Swansea Airshow) I popped image here as it shows different speeds for similar subjects,so feel free to move it elsewhere if needed lol

Cracking shots Darren.
There's one of the biggest free Airshows in Europe this weekend at Sunderland (about 15 miles away from me), it's been held for years and I've still never been... Just too many people for my liking:eek::confused:.

I thought same Glen this was my first airshow outing but cos it was on a beach and promenade I went early and found nice spot away from crowds, prior to getting my little spot at end of beach I went and asked steward if he knew their flightpath cos they were taking off 2 miles away at airport and worked it out from there kik
