Springtime in CA

A few warm days and some rain, and spring flowers are already popping up down by the lagoon near my house.

X100 in Macro Mode - f8 ISO400

I figure you folks in Blighty will be catching up soon ;)

I get the sense that you are happy with the X100! Will we see a change in brand loyalty soon?

I keep toying with the idea of buying the X-Pro1 and lenses, but it's most likely too close to what I already own in respects to size - so hard to justify other than it's fantastic looking new kit!

What lovely fresh colours Chris and great selective focus. As i scrolled don the background was lost and I think I actually prefer that; just the flowers and the foliage. What do you think - have you considered a 16:9?! ;)

Thanks Pete - bit of a Velvia PP on this one to give respect to Mr Fuji - lots of lovely greens :)

I am considering a 16:9 as it happens... - or even a square crop of just the main subject flower - the detail is excellent and stands cropping

Beautiful, Chris. Whetting my appetite for my X100. I like the dof very much. Great colours too.

Thanks Rob - X100 is definitely delivering - and It's small enough that I keep it with me and hence take more shots with it! :)

Here we go, 16:9 and Square crops:

If you look closely, you can see a spider's web bridging two buds on the main plant :)

Lovely shots Chris. Good thing you caught springtime today because it looks like we'll be having summer weather the next couple of days.

Thanks Brian - 4 seasons in one week then! :D

Thanks Darren - You can have a play when we meet up if you like - if you haven't bought one by then! :D

I know it's predictable but I really like the square shot. Not so much for the format but for the 3-D quality of the in-focus elements against the OOF ones. Fabulous. I bet that would work in B&W also - maybe with a filter.

Pan F and split tone with mild vignette in SilverFX.

Would never have picked you for liking a square crop Pete! ;)
