Star Trails

Otherwise know as Zooey
I still think Kev's image is way better, but this was my first attempt last night. Rather annoyingly, we have a flashing alarm at the back of the Lodge which prevented me from using it in the foreground. This afternoon my husband went up a ladder to wrap it in a towel, but looking out of the window now, the cloud has drifted over and I can't see a single star.

For anyone interested, I followed Jack's instructions - ISO 200, f5.6 for around 30 minutes (probably a tad longer because I fell over the water bowl on my way back into the garden) :)

I must get out to the sticks and try this!
I want to have a go at making a time lapse video of the effect
good effort I think ... So is the centre the north star

Good one Lesley and were you trying to emulate Tom Daley by diving into the water bowl ;)

Clouding over here a little too so may not e able to get out or get a clear view.........

Something like that. My slippers are still wet! What really amazed me was that I could barely see a dozen stars in the field of view. I was stunned to see how many had actually been captured. We are lucky in that there are no street lights here for miles around, but you still can't get a clear view here. The best I ever saw was in the middle of Mongolia :)

lol No offence, but sounds like you have a touch of the Calamity Jane in you Lesley!;) Nice shot, though.

middle of Mongolia! Do tell ;)

Great shot - love the effect

I was lucky enough to spend two weeks riding round Outer Mongolia with some locals, a yak cart and a traditional ger. I only scanned a few of the slides (and badly at that). When things settle down in a few months, I hope to get started again :)
