Street - Fish Market

Lesley Jones

Otherwise know as Zooey
For Brian - the fishmonger saw me with the camera and either didn't want to be photographed behind his stall, or thought to move out of my way. Regardless, I had already focused on the tray of fish to my left and I only had to think about the timing. I honestly believe he thought he was out of shot :)

Another stunning image, Lesley. Is there a style that you don't have a great example of?

Looks a little fishy to me Lesley! :D

Lovely comp and timing - would make a great stock shot

I only have the one lens Brian - the 16-105mm zoom. The exif data says 26mm, so that would be about 35mm in old money wouldn't it?
Yeah I guess so,...about 35mm in a crop sensor. (Off topic,...but funny you should mention old money. I dreamt last night that my daughter bought a packet of crisps and it cost 10 quid; I chuckled and told her that when I was a lad you got that packet of crisps for thruppence or a tanner. Good times...! Why I should chuckle at 10 quid for crisps is beyond me.)

You've obviously not been to Orly airport recently Brian. Not a tenner, but getting alarmingly close!! ;)

26 x 1.56 = aprox 40mm ... Just a fraction wider than normal meaning the chap on the edge of the frame has stayed undistorted ... Whether you knew it or not, for that sort of framing you picked a perfect focal length IMO!

I really like this, I love how people interact with cameras sometimes, it's a nice little bit of serendipity when he, despite moving to get out of shot actually moved into a near perfect position in shot!

There is so much going on here too ... The chap removing or putting on his glasses, the guy with the card machine and the way the top of the rear counter obstructs people's heads but allows you to see hustle and bustle beyond without it being a distraction!
I'd go as far to say that this is a great photo, but as well as that a perfect bit of timing!
