Its not that much OOF in my view, Rob. The left corner of the bairn's specs are in sharp focus and this combined with the OOF rest makes it look as Pete suggested, cinematic. Fine image!

Nice set Rob. I'm always struggling when manual focusing and do not get at the end the focus I liked to have (not only at 1.4 ).

Well, it depends on what you are after, speaking about effects. But you do not have to use 1,4 all the time, a 2,8 as you well know does the trick as well depending on the distance to the subject. I think you are doing quite well there also because of good subjects to focus on

Love number 2, and that "ray" effect off the clothing of the person behind...I previously had a Canon 85mm f1.8 lens and now wish I'd kept it, a superb focal length...but that was the time I was enticed by the dark side (zooms)...gradually building up my primes again though...
