Taking the long view

How about this for a long distance view - Earth from 900 million miles away

Earths-Portrait-by-Cassini.jpg

Taken by the Cassini spacecraft - looking past the rings of Saturn

According to NASA, this is only “the second time that Cassini has imaged Earth from within Saturn’s shadow, and only the third time ever that our planet has been imaged from the outer solar system.”

Yes - we really are an utterly insignificant little blue green planet

The guys on DPR are zooming in to 1000% to complain about some distortion. They miss the point: zoomed in you can clearly see that I need to cut my grass. There is no privacy...

they seem to be missing the point then this is a space landscape and any wide focus lens would give distortion at 1000% otherwise no point in having different lens constructions for different types of lenses

Just a bunch of Pixel peeping numpties, probably would complain about the print quality too if they had the chance........Pffft, why can't people just enjoy stuff as it was seen by the taker, in this case a machine! [banghead][banghead][banghead]

Damn, did I leave that EXIF data in place [banghead] :D

I always knew you weren't from around here Chris, earth that is!!
Going on about classic cars etc, pfffff!! Your not the only one who has google images out there you know. :)

Chaps,...I do not think the DSGs are able to fly that far from Earth. Indeed, I believe the DSGs are completely Earth-bound vehicles. No, in my opinion it was likely the DFS that went out there to get the fotie in question. (With Chris at the controls undoubtedly.)

Well lets challenge them to take the same shot only better with no distortion !!
That I would like to see, as well as the budget they set to take it, just stupid comment from them if you ask me & will loose respect with followers if they go down that path.

Watch the skies - that's all I'm sayin':D
