Took this portrait of a high school kid after he walked out of a smoke shop. I had him stand under the bright red neon sign that said "Fatty's smoke shop." I used a shutter speed of 60, ISO 3200, and f.4.

I agree and the 'grain' adds a lot too. The unconventional choice of placement and the fact that you have chosen to hide his eyes wit the arm of his spectacles, helps with the slightly disturbing feel. Lovely stuff Cathy.

The empty space behind him is certainly as Pete suggests an unconventional choice but its a compelling photo nevertheless. Very nice.

I like it, Cathy, including the two yellow things. The overall composition draws you in, wondering who he is and what is happening.

Thanks Steve, Pete, Brian, and Rob! Steve, I think I got lucky with the lighting on this one. Pete, haha thanks, it is kinda..disturbing. I wasen't sure about adding grain or not. Brian, the empty space looked good at the time..I didn't think I could get a clear shot that night with everything in the background. Rob, hehe yes!!! The two yellow things are my favorite. I wonder the same...
