Testing The Mamiya 330s

Well I bought the C330s from Rob it arrived yesterday. This morning I replaced the light seals around the focusing screen as they started degrading just a half hour job.
I think I'm going to get some nice shots with this camera once I figure out the parallaxing and the exposure compensation that you should add for the parallaxing. Had a few problems with getting the film on the reels then realised I had not set the reel too 120 it was set in-between 35mm and 120. got here in the end and can't wait to take it out in the field.

Excellent image, Martin. I'm looking forward to seeing what you manage to get out of it.

Thanks John, Im looking forward to getting it outside the weather been a bit crap here at the moment So touch wood it won't be to long.

Excellent start, indeed. I definitely had it set to 120, so it must have got dislodged in transit. Developing and scanning is essential for MF, unless you want to get into debt, as I did. Looking forward to the next shot.

If you get that 55mm lens you'll have a great kit, the Mamiya TLR cameras and the associated lenses are excellent performers. I had a C3 & C33 with 80mm & 55mm lenses in the 70's until they were stolen and loved them, have fun :D

No Rob not the camera my developing reels. Only way I would do it Rob is do it myself. even then it will be quite an expensive hobby. I will have to adjust my developing measurements to make it a bit cheaper as at present I fill the tank and process 2 35mm films at a time which you can't do with 120 on my tank.
Heres another image for ya

Thanks Ian.

Try Foma films, I started using them about 9 years ago because I had trouble finding Tmax100 when living in Turkey, since then I've used well over a hundred rolls of 120 and also use it for 5x4 and 7x5. They need to be shot at half the box speed or the contrast is excessive,.

For developer economy Xtol replenished is the best, I used a 2.5 litre container for the working solution and the rest (the other 2.5 litres) to replenish it. It has the advantage that the developer just needs bringing to the correct temperature before use.

These days I use Pyrocat HD which I make up myself and is very cheap as a consequence.

This is Fomapan 200 processed with Pyrocat HD, printed on Foma paper. I think it was Fomapan 200.

Martin I always use Rodinal as my developer (unless I'm developing colour of course). I'll sometimes dilute to 1+25 or 1+50 if I want to speed up my process. Most of the time, however, I dilute it to 1+100 and do a stand development of 1 hour. This way my bottle of Rodinal lasts an eternity, and is therefore very cost effective. It may not be as cost effective as Ian's Pyrocat concoction, but I'm guessing the Rodinal wins on convenience since it comes in a bottle pre-made.

Nice images. I have a C33 and an 80mm lens. I've been toying with getting a wide angle. I believe the choices are 55mm as mentioned above, and also 65mm.

Does anyone have experience with the 65mm?

Seen a few 65mm on e-bay recently and I'm bidding on a 55mm but the 55mm seems really rare as I have not seen many about loads of 135mm for some reason I may just get one of these as well.
Hence my joke
Do you know I never noticed Rob I must of been half asleep this morning.

The 65mm is a bit too close to the 80mm, my preference would be a 45mm which is what I have with my Mamiya 645's but Mamiya's widest lens for the C series was the 55mm.
