The Beaver's Head

According to Sacajawea, who accompanied the Lewis and Clark Expedition and the Corps of Discovery in 1804-1806, the Shoshone Indians called this prominent rock formation in southwest Montana the Beaver's Head.

Can you see why the Shoshones gave it that name?
Present day maps call it Beaverhead Rock.

If you think of a beaver swimming along half submerged, then yes...
It says something about how familiar beavers were to the Shoshone..

Loveley photo, BTW...

I agree. It's a little bit of a stretch for me to see the beaver but my wife says its very obvious. Maybe she has a more "Native" mind?

I dont quite see a beaver but certainly see a stunning landscape shot

Good work

Lovely landscape, Ralph. The beavers head stands out for me, too.
