The Dark River

Yesterday, I took a walk with an old friend (and member of this forum) along the boardwalk beside the River Whitewater and came up with these two.

Nice pair, Pete. Not sure I could pick one over the other as a favorite. I like the light reflecting off the tree trunks and how the curve of the bank draws you into the first one and I like the mystery of the apparently abandoned boat in the second.
 
It's the angle of the trees that gets me, in the first. Almost humorous. And, of course, it's the boat in the second. I also like how the two images seem to connect on a story level. What's been going on?
