Not the full narrative here but a taster of a craftsman at work

Cheers

Kev

Cheers Pete, he has materials for making shoes, forge ad space for generator, welding gear plus additional ready prepped shoes, its pretty well kitted out with sliding roof over the rear doors no kettle though ;)

Excellent set - the whole process documented very well for us :)

No5 is superb!

Niiiiiiiiice!!!
Kev, this is brilliant. You don't get to see this very often.

Never heard of a farrier - this place is so educational! Great series shots. Fascinating to see an expert at work. I like watching people work

excellent job of capturing a skilled craftsman at work. I grew up with horses and farriers were a regular visitor to the ranch. It has been awhile since I have seen one at work. Really amazing to think just how much work actually goes into shoeing a horse.

Thanks again each.

Steve is a very good friend and although I have worked for him before, this is the first time I've had the opportunity do shoot him working out in the paddock.

The apprenticeship is indeed a long one, five years I believe.
Whilst out on this trip, there were three horses/ponies needing trimming and shoeing but Steve found one that was lame and treated him there and then, his knowledge is very high and needs to be as driving a nail through, what in this case, could be an abscess , would not be good, many vets actually take the advice of good farriers when deciding on treatment as fitting the wrong shoes could cause further problems, and I thought a horse shoe was just a horse shoe.

Very interesting and unusual set Kev. You've done an outstanding job here. Like Pete, I really like the shot with the smoke.

Kev - that man works hard for a living!

Love the smoke shots - so dynamic, and they really tell the story

Especially that first smoke shot - the strength of the man holding horses hoof in place - you can see the sunburn on his weathered neck, the grime on his hands - really first class work

Thanks again, :-) I have worked with Steve in his forge, not photoging but bending and shaping metal, fabricating and am working with him this week on a joint sculpture, should be interesting.

He surely does work hard Chris, one of the true grafters

Glad you like the work, means a lot to me

Kev
