the first of many

Yeah ive started collecting the older vintage lenses, got an basic Nikon E series 50mm F1.8 (70mm on my D3100) so I have also got a vintage 35mm (52mm on my D3100) ive decided to go down the Nikon Nikkor route as after watching a certain youtube review they have got a range of all the good Nikkor lenses and simply adds a mount convertor to fit onto their Canon - they can't use Canon lenses on a Nikon mount. Im still deciding what route I want to go down with my photography as I actually got my D3100 as a training aid to get the correct exposure on my vintage film cameras without wasting film lol

I am tempted to go out with my D3100 and my 35mm vintage lens (better F stop and better made than the kit lens) to see what I can do. Im probably going to go down the same sort of route as yourself with regards to getting slightly older lenses, not sure if I will upgrade the body for a while but will go with a good 'full frame' cameras (although quite ironic as they are tiny compared to my MF film cameras I have lol

I guess I need to decide what I want to shoot first and have a play around before upgrading, but im not planning to ever sell any of the lenses I buy. Will go with the Nikon Nikkor lenses due to them easily changing mounts to a Canon although its the person behind the camera who makes the image, not the camera itself.

not too sure what nikkor lenses are good since i went with canon.. but you're right, you can get the same quality no matter the brand. the only one i could recommend to you would be the sigma as they made the nikon mount too. you can't go wrong with prime lenses either.

Most of the older film SLR lenses made in the late 80s and early 90s are top top quality - better build quality than the plastic wrapped lenses on sale today, they don't make them like they used to lol I will get a few prime lenses, I do have a vintage Tair 300mm M42 lens which is a 450mm on my D3100 lol plenty of focal lenght there! I will have a look at some Sigma lenses, will just go out shooting with what I have at the moment and then see where I have gaps when I say 'I wish I had *insert focal length here* lens'
