Thanks Ivar. No smog visible in this pic really. It used to be real bad in LA, in particular during the era that you visited. But automobile and factory exhaust regulations have done much to clean the air. I read somewhere that the local Indian name for the Los Angeles basin translated into something like "land of smoke" or something like that. This suggests to me that haze is historically a feature in the Los Angeles air. And of course, wildfires are also a feature so perhaps this is what the Indians were referring to. Nevertheless, the smog situation is better now. (I remember when it used to nip your eyes and parents were advised to keep their kids indoors and limit exercise due to the smog laden atmosphere. Those days seem to be gone now thank goodness.)
