Went for a stroll on Huntington Beach Pier yesterday and I saw this kid do this gravity-defying leap. Canon F1 and Canon FD 28mm lens with Arista EDU 400 film processed in Rodinal.

Now thats a good catch Brian, I trust he made it as there are no follow ups graphic images posted :D

Thank you, Lesley. Actually I had seen the kid do it and then I asked if he'd do another while I snapped a fotie. He kindly obliged.

You can't fool us Brian. Go on, admit it. You used a tractor beam on the poor young man!! ;)

Wonderful timing and just the right amount of blur I think. A super photo indeed with or without alien intervention!

Drat! Foiled again!;)

Thanks, Pete. Shot it at 1/250. Given the speed of his motion I figured I'd get a wee bit of blur.

The blur around his feet really make it Brian - and the guys standing and watching the show

Thanks, Chris. Luckily the blur is about as much as I hoped for; the other lads were Whirligig's pals. Thanks again, Chris.

Really good Brian and what I like about it is that you have kept to your BW grainy style rather than an over saturated super clean image that a lot of these types of images tend to be. The mix of subject with a style of photography that you don't normally expect together is refreshing.

Thank you, Paul. Much appreciated! (Sadly,...B&W grainy is almost all I know. Good thing I like B&W grainy!;)) Thanks again, Paul.

I love the chap in the background who couldnt give a monkies for what antics are happening just up the road!
This is a great shot mate!

As Rob said, it raised a smile here too.
Its so nice to hear that we are approaching street subjects for a matinee and the guy was probably made up that you asked.

His legs look painful though Brian. They look 'post' jumper' and not 'mid' jumper.

Thanks Gavin.

I agree. I wish I could show the kid; I'm sure he'd be interested in the contortion he had achieved. (I'm going to start carrying a paper and pencil so I can get e-mail addresses.)
