Thanks Pete - took a while to park my saucer on the bridge 
This was a shot I visualized before attending - I wanted a 'story' shot that included the theme of this years fair 'Out of this world'
The fair has a different theme each year, and the entrance is always decked-out to reflect that theme, so a shot including that area shows the year, the theme etc.
I spotted the robot drawing a crowd, and used the rear live view screen to compose as I held the camera above my head. Moved the AF point low to focus on the crowd, then spotted the dad and daughter and it all came together.
Had to crop 3:4 to remove some foreground heads, but that tightened everything up nicely.
