The "new" dog

This little guy jumped in my car at the park today at 5:30 AM when we got there to go walking. He was really scared. I think he was dumped there last night. Why me.............. I'm not kidding. I was half asleep and taking the dogs out for their morning walk. I opened my door to get out and he came flying in. Everyone gets along great......of course.... I couldn't find a man eating Rottweiler could I? I doubled up Ruby's collar and put it on him and off we went. It was if he had been living with us his whole life. I had him checked on my lunch break right after I took these. No microchip. So far no vet or boarders in town have reported him as lost. Where we walk in the morning is pretty far away from any homes and he seems very happy. My guess is he got dumped there last night. I'm of course looking for a home for him. I will deliver (however not to the UK.....:D). He's already neutered. Very friendly...make that VERY friendly. No food aggression. He walks great on the leash and rides fine in the car. He did ride in my lap but I will chalk that up to everyone else taking all the seats. :D

Sorry for the bad photos. He just would not even remotely sit still.

Ah what a cute dog! Who could jump dump an animal, bloody disgraceful.

So, you're a four dog and two cat household - for the moment! There'll be more! ;)

I also have Josephine. She is a 13 year old mostly black cat with a big white spot on her chest. I found her on the sidewalk walking to work one day. I wasn't planning on keeping her. She was so small and her eyes weren't open. The Mom most have lost her moving her kittens. There was a vet's office I passed on my way to work. I dropped her off there and they said they would call me later. Later turned out to be 7 days later. When I got her there she probably had a bout an hour or so left. She had flea anemia (she had so many fleas she barely had any blood left in her). Over the course of 7 days the vet's office gave her several blood transfusions and kept her in an incubator. Someone from the office would take her home at night. It was a real labor of love. She has had health problems all her life but she is a very sweet cat. So the count today is 4 dogs and two cats.

I may have found a home for the new dog. A friend of mine from Dallas who has two dogs wants her. She is going to drive down tomorrow to meet her. I worked together with her for 10 years so I know it would be GREAT home if she likes her and she thinks the little guy will get along with her two dogs.

Pray for me.....(even though I'm the hard core secular humanist...). ;)

Looks like you might have an extra dog now... He is a lovely looking dog.

We had a very similar experience about eight years ago when we were asked to "look after" a Jack Russel cross that some friends had found (their dogs didn't like him.) We are still looking after him all these years later! Wouldn't part with him of course.

Here's the little guy today on our Friday afternoon hike. A former co-worker of mine from Dallas is coming down tomorrow to meet him. She just lost one of her dogs to age. She's been fostering chihuahua mixes for a rescue group in Dallas. If he gets along well with her other dog she is going to take him.

I know I'm going to cry. I'm not good with people. I am kind of shy and boring so I've always been a loner. But I really love dogs.

Great news and a great shot of the dog. I hope that the prospective owner can accommodate him.

I can associate with your passion for dogs. I too prefer their company to many (but not all) people.

ps, shy people are not boring; we are just misunderstood :)

This is another great dog portrait. It didnae take you long to bamboozle the wee chap into thinking you were over that way--->. ;)

But I really love dogs.
There's a shock. :p

Seriously,...I wonder if we've even come close to plumbing the depths of Man's potential for callousness and cruelty? Were it not for people like you, Steve, and so many others on this forum (whose names I need not mention) this world would be a much more difficult place indeed.

Where on earth do you find them Steve? I mean - we've had several ferrets turn up on our doorstep, but I put that down to irresponsible poachers legging it before they are spotted. Of course, we have also had three cats turn up in our garden in the middle of nowhere. We kept two. We would have taken Armstrong in, but decided to feed him outside while we tried to find out where he came from. He vanished after a couple of days - I regret not popping him in a spare room now.

I don't know how you part with them. Derek knows anything that comes through the door stays for life :)

Um, you may be shy, but boring you are not. This I know.
