Have you seen the light?

Every day, on my way from home to work, at about eight in the morning, a man who’s no longer young practises Tai Chi alone in one of the largest squares in my city. And this morning, the light was beautiful.

Firstly, I really like the photo. (I also would have snapped off a few shots. I love shooting into the light.)

For me, I think Tai Chi would be much more fulfilling if performed in solitude as opposed to Tai Chi-ing with others.

I would have taken many more photos too, if only that man had moved, but he was at the end of his movement cycle and just stayed still like that. After a few minutes, he left.

well it must have worked because he's a bit off kilter in the first image and he's much straighter in the second. it's interesting that he chose to do it in the street. the light and shadows and the surrounding buildings make these shots really interesting.

In the USA, that gesture could have many meanings ... the size of a fish that got away ... a Sun Cult member giving homage to the dawn ... a football ref indicating a scoring play ... or in recent times a civilian signaling to ICE not to shoot.
