The Photography of Gordon Parks on NPR's "Picture Show"

"He was a jack of all trades and, in a funny way, a master of all," says Berger. Case in point: On the Gordon Parks foundation website, you'll find photos of the civil rights movement and of poverty around the world — right next to glamorous fashionshoots.
He was a documentarian, "both of how far we've come and how far we need to go."

A copy of Bare Witness, Photography by Gordon Parks turned up today, a bit sooner than I expected (ordered from Green Apple Books and Music via Abe Books - Welcome To Green Apple Books | Green Apple Books and AbeBooks Official Site - New & Secondhand Books, New &Used Textbooks, Rare & Out of Print Books). What a stunning collection by this photographer. It is effectively the catalogue of the exhibition held at the Iris and B Gerald Cantor Center for Visual Arts at Stamford University in 2007 and is certainly worth a look if you can find a copy.
