The Pier at Night

Took Sadie a lengthy walk last Thursday evening and thought I'd try a shot of the pier. I sat my arse down upon the sand and used the kneepod (right) to steady the camera. I ought to have used the other kneepod I always take with me (left) since the one I used is the least steady of the two, it having sustained a hyper-flexed anterior cruciate ligament some years ago whilst endeavoring in a football game to tackle with some zeal an opponent who clearly considered himself the second coming of Alfredo di Stefano.

I used my Canon T70 (which I am rapidly falling in love with) and my Canon FD 28mm lens (with whom I have been in love for some time) as well as Kodak Ektar 100 film, which I also am in love with.

Pete: Please observe the stars in the sky! ;)

Great choice of knee Brian. It has given just a tiny touch of movement which has softened the lines of the pier and that complements the long exposure I think. I love the position of that lone breaker too and the moment in time it creates - never to break. The dominant blue tones with yellow highlights is fabulous.

And if I'm not mistaken that constellation is the Great Hoover isn't it, with Dyson clearly visible in the 'hose'?! :)

You are a remarkably well-informed gentleman, Pete! ;) And thank you for the comments.

Oh... I can't begin to say how much I love this. For all the reasons Pete has given and more. I particularly love the way some stars have come down to play in the water :)

Thank you very much, Lesley. And may I say how impressed I am with your observation on the positioning of the stars. Why, even Pete, normally so immensely perceptive, failed to mention the stars in water. ;) Seriously though,....thank you Lesley!
