The Space Needle is the iconic landmark of the city of Seattle. It was built for the 1962 World's Fair. It stands 605 feet high and when built was the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River.
The Space Needle stands in Seattle Center, the park-like entertainment area that was also built for the World's Fair. There is a pair of monorail trains that connects Seattle Center to the Westlake Center, located downtown. These trains are the originals delivered for the World's Fair. They're called "straddle-beam" monorails, and they were built by Alweg in Germany. They're very cool.
In this photo I've used the monorail tracks to frame the Space Needle.
I shot the image in infrared with my Sigma Quattro SD, Sigma 30/1.4 and a Hoya R72 filter.
