The USS Cassin Young at Sunrise

This was taken just as the sun broke through the clouds...and the bad weather moved in. The light was incredible...for just a couple of seconds.
The Cassin Young is just down the street from me in the Charlestown Navy Yards historic Dry Dock #1...the second oldest Dry Dock in the US. She was put more than a year ago for repairs...only to find that she needed more work that the budget allowed. She is also just across the pier from "Old Ironsides," the frigate USS Constitution...which is the oldest commissioned ship in the US Navy.

now thats a great shot, very interesting angle on the ship, also love that sky

Great work

That lighting is something else ... Have you been monkeying around with it in post?
It's really quite impressive!

Hamish...I'm not one to think that all shots should be left as is out of camera. I shoot all RAW...and sometimes let my frustrated artist self go crazy. However with this one...I did crop the railing out of the bottom...denoised it...and then softened it. The lighting color was that 2 second moment that sometimes you are just lucky (or is taking 20 shots over a 2 minute period stuburn?) to get.

Wow! Nice one Glenn - what a fascinating looking place as well
