The North York Moors are I guess like any other English moorland. Boggy and peaty, open, windswept and full of historic relics. Talking of which, as I am rapidly approaching 'fossil' status, I have a huge interest in such things. Beautiful places marked out by snakes and stones. What more could you want ?

I suppose I ought to look up "moors" and figure out why they are most often associated with England (at least in my fossil of a mind).
I think it is just a part of the evolution of the country. I'm quite sure that moorland exists all over the globe but is referred to using a different description. Moorland or peat bog ? I guess it's up to us.
