The Wrong Barn

Lesley Jones

Otherwise know as Zooey
No, honestly... it nearly was. Having discovered this old barn on the internet, it was almost impossible to find the exact location. Eventually flying over using Google Earth led me to the familiar shape and surrounding trees. So I left the Roaches and drove to the back of beyond (single track with almost no passing places). I knew exactly where I was heading and when I got to the end of the old stone wall, I looked over to find... the wrong barn! The one in front of me was in a total state of collapse and I was devastated.

Then I thought the ruin was the wrong way round, so I spent the next twenty minutes frantically floundering around trying to find the right barn. Eventually I spotted it, but I had to wade through bracken that was nearly up to my head. Thankfully the sun seemed to set in slow motion and I was able to get myself sorted in plenty of time. I've only just finished, but I may tinker again tomorrow. I would appreciate any thoughts :)

Wow that looks amazing :D what camera and lens did you use? I love the level of detail, everytime you look at the image there are different things :)

Lovely view, and fantastic color Lesley

I think I see what Pete means - the grass between the tree trunks?

May need a tweak down in NIK

Looks like another competition shot to me!

David - I only have the one camera and lens. It's a Sony A700 with the 16-105 kit zoom. Not always wide enough, but OK for most shots :)

Cheers Pete and Chris! I had problems with the bracketed shots in that the trees were waving in the wind. The lifting seemed OK with the correctly exposed bit and then I found the problem and only had the underexposed shot that I could use on that side. It does look wrong now - will be fixed when I get home tonight :)

I had to turn down both the green and yellow a full 33%. It's a wonder I get anything shooting into the sun... :(

I don't know Lesley. Many shall we say "Landscape Photographs" are really stunning but the themes and effects in the images often repeat which can make them less than memorable. I think yours (along with Davie's too) due represent a fresh alternative.
