They Applaud Politely,...

Many, if not most, of the IT workers in my company hail from India or Pakistan. On Tuesdays at lunchtime a number of them have begun playing cricket on our baseball field. (Heretics!) A regular audience of fans gathers. Unlike the crass oafs who watch our footy games, who are prone to the kind of heckling one might expect from the unwashed masses of the oafish ilk, the cricket fans always applaud good play politely.

Test cricket, now that is what I call a good game. Up to five days of bliss. Never been to a match but love to listen to it on the radio.
Nice photo Brian.

What can one say?! Except, "What a pleasing composition.". :)

One need say nothing,...polite applause seems apropos. ;)

Thanks, Pete.

Thanks, Julian. I think I know how you feel about listening to it on the radion. Well, I've never listened to cricket on the radio, but when I was a kid I had a wonderful old radio in my bedroom and it would pull in stations from hither and yon. Even if I couldn't understand the lingo, I still loved to listen to the voices. In particular though, I loved listening to baseball games. Thanks again, Julian.

Love the composition, and the colours and processing are wonderful. The idea of cricket in the USA appeals so much :D

Thanks very much, Dave. I was able to position myself such that through the gap I could see the batsman (the "batter," in baseball parlance). I tripped the shutter when he swung and I was happy to see I got him in action--albeit not exactly "Sports Illustrated" quality.;). Thanks again, Dave.

Cracking shot Brian - lovely to see a vestige of the old 'Empire' being played out in California

Love the comp - and the positioning and timing for the batsman

I'm sure the rules, stumps and bails etc are confusing to the locals ;)

Much obliged, Chris. As to the relative confusion engendered among the locals, the first adjective that sprung to mind was "nonplussed.":)

Great comp Brian but I have deep concerns about Cricket in the good old OOOOOESSS of AY. now cricket has been seen as a proper game the Yankees and the 49ers will want to be telling us how to play it.......:D
