Things To Do At The Getty

Watching a pretty girl sunning her legs - that's a nice way to spend your time. Love the girl on the stairs, taking an arty shot with her camera.

Nice shot, Brian :)

Excellent Brian. It almost looks choreographed.

Thanks, Pete. I was surprised in the end that I had got it. Considering that the C33 isn't the fastest draw in the West, these three folks remained stationary long enough for me to adjust my exposure settings, frame the image, focus and shoot.

Which reminds me,...I hadn't shot with the C33 in a while. (Not since January I think.) As I was lining up one of the shots a passer-by remarked that it was nice to see someone "shooting with an old Hasselblad." The conversation went back and forth and in the course of it I told him I had so far taken about half a dozen shots and that if I were shooting digital I'd probably have about a hundred by then.

I feel that is true. It was very refreshing to be doing things slowly, and the tactile pleasures aperture and shutter speed manipulations and of framing the reversed image in the focusing screen and bringing the image into, out of, and back into focus just felt nice.

By the way I saw two other fellows that day with film cameras. One had a Voigtlander Bessa 35mm and the other fellow was carrying a Hasselblad. (But it was an actual Hasselblad,...not a Mamiya C33 one.;))

Thanks again, Pete.

Getting used to the reverse image takes some doing. Some of the shots I got back from the developer, I thought were the wrong way round, I'd been concentrating so hard on framing - and that's how I remember the scene. Getting verticles straight can be awkward sometimes. With my C330, I'm finding my close ups are out of focus - not quite getting that right, despite having a magnifying glass in the viewfinder. But getting used to it. The vision you get through these viewfinders is magical.

Saw this on Flicky and hoped you had posted it here. Super dope (will Iam) Love good architecture then adding the people stationed where they are? One of your best, along with the rest Brian.
