Through a Window

This was shot through one of the windows at Meissen 'Castle' last week. I liked the way the view was distorted by the 17th century glass and it also created some great lighting in the rooms. It also works as a self portrait! :)

Pete, you're so shifty I can't make you out!

That's quite the view from that window :)

Looks like a guy in a gas mask in one of the triangular panes near the top right, but that can't be you?

Hamish, actually there is very little PP here. Cropped etc in LR and pushed the black up a wee bit. Added a border is PS and applied a bit of glow with a warm colour to tone down the highlights. All of the distortion is due to the glass and I focused on near infinity to ensure that what was visible of the tower would be in focus and the frame wouldn't.

As for the guy in the gas mask, no idea who he is. Been following me for weeks - Tom, you haven't been in Germany recently have you?! :)

As for shifty, I wasn't shifty enough. I was aiming for the dome to be centred on the pane but forgot to check if I'd got it right (parallax on RF's!) as the guide and the rest of the group had just moved on (and it's a big place to get lost in!!).

I think I see a ghost-like apparition in one of the triangles upper middle to the right. It's a great shot, Pete. I love the colors and the distortion.
