Topaz

I sat down tonight and worked on a few photos I took the other month. It was the first time I had done that for months. I have built a new pc for myself and had to reinstall everything etc. I stuck the photo into topaz to make my normal adjustments and I was really surprised as to how much it had changed since the last time I'd used it. There seems to be hundreds of presets now, which kinda took the fun out of it for me. It seems to me with every upgrade Topaz gets more and more complex. This is just from a personal level, I find I so enjoy working a picture myself and watching it evolve (even if it means deleting it 3 times !)

Maybe I'm just a miserable old bloke!

I think thats why I like using PS, it may not be the best for batching etc. but treating every image as an individual is how I like to work..

Although I should have used them, I forgot how to PP!

The presets are there more to show what can be done, or as a starting point.

I've used Topaz enough now that I often reset everything then just use the sliders to get the effect I want.
I'll occaisionally trawl through the presets if I'm looking for a new way of treating a subject, but I usually end up checking the individual settings to see how it was done.

They do give a good starting point, but are often a little over-done for my tastes

I guess they are showing off what's possible

I do like the interface and the level of control a lot - it's really added to my enjoyment of PS
