I took my 590nm IR converted camera along to Redwoods NP this past week. Here is a shot with the Red/Blue channels swapped (but not quite 1:1).


This version got a "thumbs down" elsewhere.

Same shot converted to B&W with emphasis on the blues...

Greens essentially go "white" at this length of the light spectrum.

The first image is interesting. Being a documentary type of guy ... not quite my cup of tea. The lack of contrast and overall light blue cast doesn't exhibit the drama I would expect from an IR image. The more I look ... examine the image ... the more the subtleties command my attention.

Thanks Chris. It was the first conversion of IR from last week's batch. I may take another stab at a color version. This is what the image looks like SOOC.

The lack of contrast and overall light blue cast doesn't exhibit the drama I would expect from an IR image.

I was somewhat disappointed in it as well, hence the b&w version (after somebody gave it a thumbs down on DPReview.
