The first is superb Rob (and eclipses the fine second shot). It reminds me of Japanese paintings and con jours a pool of fish. Wonderful.

Interesting Rob, I'd say they both have a lot of similarities . I go along with Pete, they are the shape the marks of the Japanese brush can leave, giving it an eastern flavour.
