UK Flood Barriers Brochure Shot

Hamish Gill

Tech Support (and Marketing)
I did a job for a local company called UK Flood Barriers today.
They needed a single shot for a brochure they are putting together. The Brief was to capture their testing equipment in action, the scale of the equipment and testing facilities and if possible some branding.

A short slightly crappy video of the set up ... I was on the top of a very high ladder and didn't have much room to maneuver

This is the end product

The actual photo was shot at 640iso not 400 as the video shows.
The camera was on a tripod on top of a large ladder-thing with wheels. It was taken using a remote trigger with the camera set to 5fps to get the chap walking in a position i was happy with.
It was shot at 16mm to get the as much in as possible...

Interesting commission - and challenging as well

I see management were working hard on the gantry then! ;)

So was this all available light or did you have some remote triggered flash?

That's a cool image, Hamish. And, to Chris's point, shows the British worker at his best. ;)

Is that the one that will go in the brochure, then?

Professional shot Hamish, it certainly gives the sense of scale and that something technical is going on to stop the room getting flooded out. Looks like it was a tricky one too as there seems to be little space around the edges to get some distance from the test rig.

There is another shot here

You can see there is more room around it to the left of the frame, but no angle that gave such insight into what goes on ...
Its not a perfect photo, in terms of straight lines etc, I decided it woul be best to just get the gantry thing level... I think it works? At very least, it's eye catching I think
