Wallace Monument

Ok bear with me on this one, not a fabulous image I know, but I shot this with a 50mm on a really misty/dull morning recently.
My first time EVER shooting both RAW & J-Peg, so after receiving Lightroom 5 editing programme yesterday I played about with this RAW image and found I could transform this image from virtually nothing to slightly something, it's not brilliant, the original file was really awful.

(p.s. I presently can't reply to any threads or post images via my laptop, but works ok via my i-Pad, weird...?
Anyone else notice this ?

It's not such a bad image, and it is a good thing to cut your RAW teeth on something difficult to manipulate. I've seen a lot worse...from my own images.

Peter Some good qualities to this one around the horizon and the mist. I remember loading Raws into software and clicking all the auto buttons going and hopping for the best. Not great at proccessing now but have learnt a lot
through trial and error.

Told ya to shoot raw ;)

While the comp and contrast isn't fantastic, the location and general perspective is good. I suggest getting a lot closer (if possible) and going after it with your 21mm Zeiss the same time of day. Get low and increase the drama by shooting up (like you appear to have done here). I think there is a very good photograph to be made there - hit it again :)

Very nice peter.

A suggestion would be to try and apply those same settings you done have here in LR to the JPEG image.

If not, take another shot in JPEG & RAW, save the setting that you have used in LR as a preset to the RAW that you have been editing (best to use a 'darker' shot as a comparison/example)..... Apply that setting to the JPEG file afterwards...... Then embrace the RAW and it's ultimate brilliance............

You will be amazed how versatile the RAW shot is, and once that establishment has been made...... You'll never use JPEG again, like I did.... :):):)
