WANTED: Nikon D700

Good luck!!!

The 9.0 quake that hit Sendai pretty much put the D700 out of production for a year. Now the plant is back up and running but required to make 30,000 D800 cameras per month—and it too is back-ordered around the world. Once production catches up with demand on the D800, Nikon has said they will do a run of D700 cameras if the demand is still there. I expect it will be, however it could be a number of months until they can afford to switch over.

Occasionally, Nikon has been offering refurbs on their web-pages, and the rare used one may show up on eBay or Amazon. Of course, check with any local stores. If you have a relationship with a store, let them know you are looking for one.

I am as impressed with mine today, as when I first got it—and that goes back to day one of the D700. The rep told my dealer that my D700 was the very first body to be delivered in Canada. I see absolutely no need to replace it in the foreseeable future. I expect the same is true of most D700 owners.

There are stacks on eBay since the d800 release ... I just dont want to pay that sort of cash for an unknown!
It's for me... The d3 is going to work to stay at the studio only to be let out for weddings etc when we need two cameras!
It's too heavy and bulky for me, I want something I can carry around a bit easier without breaking my spine!

Give Paul a call at Commercial Cameras, he's had a few in the recent past and his stock is always first class.

Why a D700 over your D3 Hamish? I personally much prefer the handling of the D3 which is why I gave mine away after substituting a D3x for it on the Tessovar.

Cheers! That's a good idea!
See previous post... It's all about portability!
I've used a d700 a lot, and whilst I prefer the overall handling of the d3, it's just not as nice a camera to have around your neck all day!
It's a bit showy too!!

Agree on the layout ... I like the extra buttons too especially for work!
But this is more for personal stuff and as back up for work... And I suffer with back problems as is! :/
