Weird red flower

This thing was just growing out in the middle of field. I have no idea what it is. It has to be some escaped ornamental or something. It was really tall, maybe 5 feet. I'm 5'11'' and I didn't have to bend to take this shot. I wish I could have shot the whole thing but the bottom half with had some flowers too was in pretty deep shadows. The wind was blowing really hard so this is the best I could do. In fact it was the only picture I took on our walk. I'm trying to spare the dogs for a while. They are really getting tired of the camera.

looks like honeysuckle.. nice color and dof, i'd play with cropping a little off of the top if it were mine.

Nice shot Steve. It is a wild plant though, the Texas Plume (Ipomopsis rubra), and a member of the Phlox family.

Nice Steve, we get masses of Phlox here, it loves the more arid soil as it seems to thrive where most plants wont.
