Where's That Red Eye Reduction Button?

A few images from my first roll of color film shot with my new toy, the Mamiya C33. These are Kodak Portra 160.

The outdoor ones are over-exposed. I don't have a meter so I rely on the Sunny 16 Rule, except that I use Sunny 11 most often,...which is what I used here. However, I think f16 would have been better for the outdoor shots. The indoor ones (the first two) I just cranked the lens open and slowed the shutter speed to something that felt right. Could have slowed it some more on the Sadie shot since she is a wee bit under exposed.

Where's The Red Eye Reduction Button? Pink fish for sale in a fish market at Redondo Beach Pier.

Where Did You Say That Red Eye Reduction Button Was?

I think this is the best camera for you, Brian. I really love everything you've shown us from it. And the title really fits that first shot beautifully! Is that bird eyeing up the fish? Must drive the birds crazy seeing all those fish just lying around.

How did you get so close to the bird without a zoom?

Redondo Beach - wasn't there a song about that?

Very nice of you to mention, Rob. Thank you.

That bird is most certainly eyeing up the fish. There is a real competition going on with gulls and night herons and pelicans all fighting for scraps. The fellow in this picture let me get really close. That didn't surprise me though because pier birds round these parts tend to have little fear of humans.

Redondo? Song? Hmmm. It was mentioned in The Beach Boys' "Surfin' USA".

Thanks again, Rob!

sorry, i don't think it's a red eye issue, looks more like a white balance issue to me. see how the entire fish turned red, it's not just the eye. love the light in the second, sadie looks like she's enjoying it too.

White balance! Grrrr! Why didn't I adjust it at the time! :D

Thanks, Beth. :)

Love the tones in the first and third Brain and the timing in thee third is spot-on. I do like a WLF. :)

Much obliged, Pete.

(WLF...?)

Yes, I didn't want to mention it but your balance was clearly off. I would suggest wearing two (maybe three) socks on your right foot - that would have sorted the problem in shot 3 I think. ;)
Perfec! :D That will also soften the impact to my instep when I shoot at goal (or kick an opposing striker). Thanks Pete.
