And should I crop either or niether? Adjust contrast? Adjust other things? Etc. Comments appreciated.

For me......I like the first with a crop taking out the lamp post, although it does offer an element of framing but the white sign is a distraction hence the crop, and I'd have more contrast to pump up the blacks a bit and a hairline black border. but thats all I do Brian, The Second is interesting in that the lad ion the foreground gives it and element of questioning what is going to happen...is this a take from West Side Story????

Thanks Kev. I never saw that lamp post at the time else I would have avoided capturing it. I'm partial to the 2nd one for the same reason that you expressed: the lad in the foreground--my nephew, as it happens--adds an element of what's going on.

Thanks for the comments, Kev.

I agree with Kev. Crop the first shot to remove the post and all of the sign. I'd also probably crop the grass at the bottom to give it a more urban look. Maybe a tad more contrast?

That would be my response also Brian. Crop the first to eliminate the pole and also the grass thus keeping the aspect ratio and maybe straightening it a touch. Increase contrast and increase blacks and probably burn in the top 1/3 as per the vandalism I did to your Pram shot! ;)

I also like the lad and the lead in the second but, again, I would crop out the pole and the bit of grass to keep the aspect ratio.
