Wide fast primes ...

The fastest widest lens I have is the Nikon 35mm f2
if I want wider I'm looking at the 24-70 f2.8 or 16-35 f4...
been looking at the 28mm 1.8 Nikon ...
faster and wider than what I already have I think it will work out nicely for weddings in the evenings...

ive really enjoyed my Sony rx100 so far and have found I almost exclusively shoot at 28mm 1.8 with it ... So why not add a big version to my arsenal??

i know Chris, you have some wide fast primes ... How do you find them in general? Useful??

anyone else go any thoughts?

for a while I didn't see much point in them with the 24-70 being so good... It pretty much made the old d primes redundant ... But since Nikon released the (affordable) 28mm 1.8 I've hankered after it

Well, I ordered the 28mm 1.8g afs today ... Four weeks lead time from Nikon (which prob means 6) ... Excited non the less!

Ha! Didn't take much of a debate there then did it?
You certainly aren't the character for persuasion with gadgets are you? :D:D

Don't do it Hamish!

Too late - oh well - you'll just have to live with it I suppose :D

As you mentioned, I have a 24mm f/1.4 and it's a great piece of glass

You get lovely separation of subject and background at wide apertures, and it's less demanding from a focussing point of view being a wider angle lens.

Shooting without flash indoors becomes easier, and I'm sure you'll be using it for the little-un and domestic family group shots, for which it should be ideal

These two were at f/1.6 for example, but you get the idea

Hope you enjoy the lens - post up some pictures when you get it! :)

I would have loved te Nikon 24 1.4 but I can't justify it ...
That's just the sorta thing though... I have really loved the 28 on the Sony, but a bit more background separation is def what I'm after!
