Will Photography Endure?

A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit Three Rivers Petroglyph site in New Mexico. I was greatly impressed with the huge amount of rock art I saw and it got me thinking about how this art form had managed to survive hundreds of years. Photography is still a pretty new art form historically.

Here is a link to a photo-blog of the petroglyph site: http://dennis-ernst-blogs.blogspot.com/2014/06/three-rivers-petroglyphs-site-in-new.html

After looking at the rock art, I'd like to hear comment about how you feel photography will endure and what will last 1000 years. What will it say about our culture and current way of life and what do you think people in the future will learn from it?

Thanks!

Dennis

Thanks Dennis, what a super record of the petroglyphs. And an interesting point about durability etc. It is difficult to think in such timescales as we tend to consider our own culture as son much more important that what went before. And with those petroglyphs, while the images have endured much, if not all, of their meaning has been lost. As a species we are far more transient that we like to think.
