The colors in that first one are lovely, John, and I like how you've framed the windmills with the tree branches.

I like the tree reflections in the water very much. B&W seems a perfect compliment to the subject matter. How did you achieve the OOF on the right and left edges of the image? Did you do that in post or was it with a lens?
 
Welcome back, John. I really love the b&w one - in fact I think it is superb. Reminds me of a place called Damme in Belgium I once cycled around. Completely flat landscape, and miles of canals, some windmills too.

Sorry, bad Dutch joke - love the colors on the roofs popping against the blue sky on #1

And #2 is fantastic - love the use of B&W - looks suitably cold!
 
Thanks. Brian, the out of focus was done post. Rob, you are spot-on about Damme, as this is where the shot was taken. Chris, it was cold, with not a breath of wind.
 
I think I'll pat myself on the back! It's a pity I wasn't into photography in those days. This shot might have inspired me to think about it.
