Avril doesn't do serious much.. by gearoidmuar, on Flickr

This is the bride. A beautiful girl, always smiling. I told her to not smile on this! You can't beat the variations of window light for portraiture, with or without shadows.

Very nice Gary. The lighting is smooth and natural looking. Great job. I'd like to see one smiling too and maybe looking right at me.

Avril is phenomenally photogenic. Any angle, any expression, no problem. She never has an unattractive expression on her face.

I like the balance of the natural light on the bride, and the warmer tungsten light in the room - really gives a lovely separation of subject from background (as well as the DOF)

The colour in the eyes is amazing - draws you in.

Which lens did you use for the first shot Garry?

Great pair of shots Garry!
Most of my wedding stuff looks a lot less "perfect" than these... I'm not sure if that's a bad or good thing really!
We definitely have a different style!
I'd be interested to see more wedding shots!

Thanks Chris,
Both shots with 24-105 L.
That's the lens I most use in weddings these days. Very versatile and has IS. I have an 85 f1.8, 100 f2, 100 f2.8 macro, 70-200 F4 L non-is and 28-70 F2.8 L, but the 24-105 reduces the fiddling around!
