I love the first shot. The left hand side looks a bit like a Chinese dragon.

Both shots are of the same log. You can see part of the swirl pattern of the upper shot in the upper left corner of the lower shot.

#1 appears to blend "The Scream" of Edvard Munch and "Starry Night" of Van Gogh. Definitely my favorite of the two.
