Worthwhile or corny? A preview.

I must have walked past this piece of steel piling hundreds of times, but never noticed the local church through it before. I only had a pocket digital with me, but my question is; is this a photo worth shooting with my better camera and tripod? Should the piling be more in focus? etc etc As ever, honest opinions welcome Many thanks.

I like that a lot and I think it works better. It might be interesting also to just focus on the metal. I think the crop is fine as it is though.

I agree with Pete. The steeple in focus and the dark version of the beam works very nicely indeed.

nicely done on take 2. i like the darker tones better on the frame, the first one was a little too bright and colorful. i also like the church in focus. well done!

Thanks folks It is one I can go back to, and maybe when the trees are showing a little more leaf, who knows? Will try some different DOF too.

I haven't thought to look! But now you mention it, there is an old stone building that was once a schoolhouse, and later a brewery. Will have a look over the weekend. Thanks for the ideas.

I think it is all the better for the darker frame. Such a simple scene but it seems there are many different ways to photograph it.
