It's from a heavily cropped image and I'm not too sure if the original was better left alone. So I'll show it to you now; I was really annoyed for missing the dog but the rascal may have appeared as I was clicking; don't know really.

Personally I think the cropped version tells the tale far better Tom. A great image and super strong crop.

I prefer the second, original shot Tom. For me it gives more context which helps. The Dog, or half a dog is ok, it is a dog wandering off and maybe a whole dog would possible have detracted from the child. Whatever I know those shots where a subject wanders off and it is missed.

I also agree with Julian, I don't think a bit of dog cropped is a bad thing at all.
The story becomes about the the child hiding from the dog... And very possibly about to get away with it

I think you have confirmed my own suspicions. Uncropped the best but I think it would be be better with a whole dog.

I agree about the un-cropped variant and I don't mind the chopped off dog at all and think that Julian might be right about a whole one being a distraction. I like Hamish's story too.
